The Maryville softball team erupted for 21 runs in a doubleheader sweep over visiting Blackburn Tuesday afternoon. The Saints recorded a 7-5 win in game one and used an 11-run inning to post a 14-0 victory in five innings in the finale.

The Saints took the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs.
Ashley Marks hit a solo homer to left to get Maryville on the scoreboard.
Dani Williams singled and moved up to second.
Krystal Rock lashed a double down the line in right for a 2-0 edge. After Blackburn tied the game in the fourth, the Beavers' Mary Chamberlain hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to stake the visitors to a 5-2 advantage. The Saints roared back with five runs in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded,
Wendy Macias had an RBI single to bring home
Kelsey Martin. Rock lifted a sac fly to right that plated Marks as the Saints closed to 5-4.
Courtney Ferguson launched a three-run home to left center that scored the game-winning runs.

In game two, Martin singled and took second on an error. After Marks' sac bunt moved her to third, Martin scored on
Sheridon Sprague's infield grounder. In the second inning, Marks singled with the bases loaded to score Macias and
Alex Flasch. The Saints took advantage of four Blackburn defensive miscues and pushed across 11 runs on nine hits. In the game, 10 different Maryville players recorded at least one hit. Seven different Saints recorded an RBI, paced by three from Marks.

Macias, who picked up the win in both games, gave up just three hits to record the shutout. The Saints improved to 17-28 overall, while Blackburn dips to 5-25 on the season.
