St. Louis - The Maryville men's soccer team scored a pair of goals late in the second half and used outstanding defense to earn a 2-0 shutout victory over Lewis Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field. After blanking Lewis Friday, the last time the Saints recorded back-to-back shutout victories was back on September 8 and 10, 2006.
The Flyers (3-9-0, 2-8-0 GLVC) controlled the tempo for the better part of 75 minutes, but
Chris Naunheim recorded his second goal of year on a shot that got past a diving goalkeeper in the 76th minute to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage.
Pontus Gitselov added the insurance goal in the 82nd minute from 12-yards out to net his fifth goal of the year.

Christian Kjaersgaard was spectacular in the net as he made a pair of saves that helped him earn his third shutout of the year and improved his record to 7-5. Â Â
