Nashville, Tenn. - Behind a balanced offensive attack that put five players in double figures, the Maryville men's basketball team recorded its second straight victory by virtue of a 77-70 decision at Trevecca Nazarene Tuesday night in Nashville, Tenn.
Grant Sims paced the Saints with 18 points.

Trevecca led 14-11 before a
Marvin Grant-Clark three-point play tied the game and his 3-pointer gave the Saints a lead they would not surrender the rest of the game. TNU cut the gap to 30-27 with 4:17 left in the first half before the Saints closed the first half on a 17-2 run.
Damyan Stoyanov started the run with a trey, and
Anthony Johnson scored inside. Grant Sims finished a three-point sequence.
Evan Booker knocked down a triple for a 41-27 advantage. The Trojans finally scored but Johnson and Grant Sims scored the last six points of the half. The Saints shot .586 in the opening stanza.

Grant Sims scored three minutes after intermission as the Saints took their largest lead of the game at 51-32. Trevecca made a run and scored the next 15 points to get back into the game. The Trojans eventually closed the game to 62-61 before the Saints answered with seven straight points. Stoyanov scored on a layup, and
Forrester Sims drilled a 3-pointer. Booker powered up inside for a layup to give Maryville a 69-61 edge. TNU scored but Stoyanov answered with a 3-pointer for a 72-63 lead with just under five minutes to play. After a Trevecca free throw Grant Sims had a layup to build a double-digit lead. The Trojans cut the game to five but Forrester Sims sank a jumper for a 77-70 advantage. Â The Saints defense kept TNU off the board the final 2:07 of the game to preserve the victory.

Grant Sims hit 6-of-11 shots from the field en route to his 18 points. Forrester Sims tallied 16 points, and Stoyanov sank four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Booker narrowly missed a double-double as he finished with 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Grant-Clark recorded 10 points.

The Saints improve to 2-3 overall, while the Trojans are now 1-4 on the year. Maryville is back in action Friday and Saturday when it plays in a tournament hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
