Singh's Tech Fall Caps Saints Rally Win Over Lindenwood

Maryville wrestling team rallied with wins in the last three matches capped by Jaret Singh's tech fall as the No. 4 ranked Saints edged No. 10 Lindenwood 24-19. The Saints fell behind 19-9 before scoring the final 15 points of the contest.
 
Lindenwood's Hunter Haralson, who is ranked No. 4 nationally, took the decision at 133 in the opening match, before Keygan Foster had a dramatic late comeback to tie the match. At 141, he trailed 4-0 in the waning seconds but rallied to force extra time. Early in the overtime, Foster had two near falls to rally for the 10-4 victory. Keenan Hagerty recorded a fall at the 3:35 mark of his 149 match to push the Saints up 9-3. Top-ranked Terrell Wilbourn edged Maryville's Greg Hegarty 5-3 in their 157 clash, and the Lions tied the match 9-9 after the bout at 165.
 
The Lions won the 174 match via a major decision and 184 by forfeit as the Saint trailed 19-9 heading into the bout at 197. Ryan Beltz recorded a fall in just 88 seconds to start the late Maryville rally to pull the Saints to 19-15. At heavyweight, Donnell Walker had an escape and a takedown early in the second to grab a 4-0 lead. After Lindenwood notched a point on an escape, Walker put together a take down and a near fall to push his advantage to 9-1 to score the major and forge a 19-19 tie.
 
In the final and decisive match of the night, Singh faced Derek Heil with the match in the balance. Singh opened the scoring with a takedown before a Heil escape cut the lead to 2-1 after one. In a neutral start to the second, the sequence repeated with a Singh takedown and Heil escape creating a 4-2 Maryville lead. At the second half buzzer, Singh had a takedown and scored valuable points for a 10-2 lead. In the final period, Singh poured it on with repeated takedowns and near falls to stretch his lead to 21-4 and provide the Saints with a 24-19 victory.
 
Maryville is next in action as it hosts the Dr. Mark Lombardi Duals starting at Noon Sunday, Feb. 14, at Moloney Arena.
