West Palm Beach, Fla. - The Maryville softball jumped out to big leads in both ends of a doubleheader and kept host Keiser University at bay to sweep two games to close out a season-opening Florida trip. The Saints won game one 9-6 and took the finale 9-7.

The Saints scored four runs in the top of the first to take early command.
Ashley Marks tripled to leadoff the game, and
Wendy Macias laced a single to center for the game's first run.
Alex Flasch and
Bri Livingston singled to load the bases.
Nikki Taylor had an RBI single, and Flasch scored later on a wild pitch.
Krystal Rock had an RBI single that plated Livingston with the fourth run of the inning.

Keiser scored one run in the bottom of the second before the Saints hung up five runs in the top of the third. Macias doubled, and Flasch switched places with her on an RBI double. Livingston singled and Taylor worked a walk to put a Saint on every base. Rock drilled a single up the middle that brought in two runs.
Hope Miller reached on a fielder's choice and drove in another run. Marks laid down a sac bunt that scored Rock to build a 9-1 lead. The Saints nearly closed out the game but Keiser scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Maryville gave up two runs in the seventh but Keiser stranded two runners to end the game. Macias picked up the win for the Saints.

In game two, the Saints again struck early with two runs in the top of the first. Rock walked and stole second. Flasch was hit by a pitch before Livingston made the Seahawks pay with a two-run double. Maryville added a run in the second when Miller singled and promptly stole second. Marks delivered an RBI single to extend the Saints' lead to 3-0.
Courtney Ferguson was hit by a pitch, and Miller walked. After a sac bunt moved the runners up, Marks put down another bunt to plate a run. Rock delivered again with an RBI single for a five-run edge.

The Saints added two more runs in the fifth inning when
Casey Ward singled and scored on Ferguson's triple. Miller had an RBI ground out as the Saints stormed to a 7-0 lead. The teams traded two-run bursts over the next three half-innings, with the Saints adding two runs in the sixth. Marks doubled to lead off, took third on a passed ball and scored on another Rock RBI, her fifth of the day. Flasch then launched a solo homer, her third of the trip, to left center as the Saints took a 9-2 lead. The Seahawks scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and made another late charge with three runs in the seventh. However, Taylor got the final out to pick up the save and preserve the win for
Sheridon Sprague.

The Saints stand at 4-2, while Keiser falls to 1-5 on the year. Maryville is back in action Tuesday as they travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on Christian Brothers University.
