St. Charles, Mo. - The Maryville softball team posted two one-run victories to sweep a doubleheader from Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday in games played in St. Charles, Mo. The Saints won game one 6-5 on a walk-off single in the ninth inning, and took a 2-1 decision in game two.

In the first contest, the Panthers roared out to a 5-0 lead after three innings. The Saints inched back with an RBI by
Courtney Ferguson and a single by
Sheridon Sprague in the fifth. In the sixth inning, the Saints inched closer with two runs scoring on a wild pitch and a sac fly. Maryville tied the game 5-5 with a sac fly by
Alex Flasch in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth, the Saints strung together three straight singles to load the bases.
Hope Miller then lashed the walk-off single to cap off the dramatic rally for the 6-5 victory.
Nikki Taylor allowed just one hit over six innings of work to record the win in relief.

In game two, the Saints took an early 1-0 edge on Taylor's RBI single in the third. Kentucky Wesleyan answered with a run in the top of the fourth. Taylor again factored in the sixth inning with a leadoff triple. Flasch launched a sac fly, her second game-tying RBI of the doubleheader, to bring Taylor home for a 2-1 lead. Taylor kept the Panthers off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh to complete the doubleheader sweep and picked up the win in game two, too.

The Saints improve to 6-2 on the season, while Kentucky Wesleyan dips to 0-4.
