Nikki Taylor launched three home runs as Maryville split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against Lewis Friday afternoon. The Saints won the first game 6-2 while the Flyers held on for a 6-5 victory in game two.

The Flyers pushed across single runs in the first and third before the Saints rallied. In the bottom of the fourth,
Krystal Rock singled before Taylor smacked her first homer of the day to forge a 2-2 tie. In the fifth,
Courtney Ferguson and
Wendy Macias had consecutive singles to start the rally.
Bri Livingston lashed a double down the line in left to plate two runs for a 4-2 lead. The Saints sealed the win with two insurance runs in the sixth.
Krystal Rock tripled, and Taylor doubled her in. Later, Maryville tacked on an unearned run for the final 6-2 margin.

In game two, Lewis grabbed an early lead before holding off a seventh-inning charge by Maryville. The Flyers used a series of bunts and sacrifices to take a 4-0 edge in the first, and the visitors added a solo run in the second. The Saints roared back in the third. Rock singled, and Ferguson singled to put two runners on the basepaths. Taylor blasted a three-run homer to left as the Saints pulled to within 5-3. Lewis tacked on a run in the fourth for a 6-3 lead setting up the late-inning drama. Taylor hit a solo homer to start the bottom of the seventh as the Saints drew to 6-4. Sydney Halleen singled to put runners on the corners. Pinch runner
Heather Wernle stole second to put two Saints in scoring position. Macias had an RBI grounder to cut the gap to 6-5. However, the Saints stranded Wernle on third as Lewis earned the split.

The Saints (9-3, 1-1 GLVC) ran their winning streak to seven games, their longest since joining Division II, and the most consecutive wins since nine straight from April 9 to April 23, 2006. The Flyers are now 11-8 overall, 1-1 in the league. Maryville is slated to host Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday for two games starting at Noon at Lindenwood University.
