St. Charles, Mo. - On Senior Day, the Maryville softball team earned a split of a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's College. The Saints recorded a season-high 16 buts but Pumas won an eight-inning offensive showdown 9-8 in game one. Maryville bounced back with timely hitting for a 3-2 victory in game two.

The Pumas scored three runs in the top of the first but the Saints answered with two in their first at-bat.
Krystal Rock and
Ashley Marks were both in scoring position, and
Wendy Macias drove them in with a single to left. SJC scored two runs in the second before a Rock sac fly scored
Courtney Ferguson. The Pumas extended their lead to 7-3 in the fourth inning. The Saints got one run back on a
Casey Ward RBI ground out. The Saints finally tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Nikki Taylor walked and
Heather Wernle came on as a pinch runner. Macias singled and took second on an error as Wernle reached third.
Bri Livingston had an infield hit to score Macias. The Saints tied the game on a double play that allowed
Alex Flasch to touch home for a 7-7 score.

The teams traded runs in the seventh inning, and Rock scored on a wild pitch that tied the game at 8-all. In the top of the eighth, SJC's Haley Miller had an RBI single that scored the eventual game winner. The Saints loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth but could not push across the game-tying run.

In the finale, the Pumas pushed across a run in the top of the first before the Saints answered in the home half. Rock started off with a walk and took second on a wild pitch. Macias drove a pitch back up the middle to forge a 1-1 tie. Macias and SJC starter Morgan Akre hung zeros on the board until Maryville broke through with the winning runs in the fifth. Rock sparked the burst with a walk, and Ferguson followed with a single. The duo moved up on a wild pitch before Taylor's RBI grounder pushed the Saints ahead 2-1. Macias lashed a single up the middle that chased Ferguson home with the winner. The Pumas pulled a run back in the sixth but Macias retired SJC in order to close out her 19th win of the year.
The Saints stand at 35-9 overall, 19-7 in the GLVC. The Pumas move to 12-35 overall, 8-18 in the league.
