Carlinville, Ill. - Senior #Alex Flasch# smashed three homers and drove in nine runs as Maryville's softball team extended its victory streak with two five-inning wins at Blackburn College Tuesday night. The Saints exploded for a 16-1 triumph in game one and followed with a 12-0 decision in the finale.The Saints jumped to a 6-0 edge in the first inning. Krystal Rock started the outburst with a walk and took second on a wild pitch. After Nikki Taylor reached on an error, Bri Livingston singled Rock home with the first run of the game. Flasch then launched a three-run home for all the runs the Saints would need. Courtney Ferguson walked, and Darby Ferguson followed with a base hit. Sheridan Sprague drove in two more runs with a single.
Blackburn scored its only run of the day on a solo home run in the bottom of the second. Livingston led off the top of the third with a solo homer, Sprague lifted a sac fly, and Courtney Ferguson scored on a passed ball as Maryville took a 9-1 lead. Taylor hit a solo blast in the fourth, and the Saints closed the scoring with six runs in the top of the fifth. Wendy Macias gave up just two hits and recorded nine strikeouts for the win in the circle. The 16 runs are the most since the Saints scored 16 against Lambuth Feb. 18, 2011.
As in the first game, the Saints hung six runs as they batted in the bottom of the first inning. Marks singled, stole second and scored on Rock's RBI single. Syd Tockman had an RBI single, and Livingston had an RBI grounder. Flasch drilled a two-run homer as the Saints extended their lead to 5-0. Later, Hope Miller had an RBI grounder to cap the scoring burst.
 In the third inning, Livingston singled and Flasch was hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard. Miller then drilled a single that scored two runs for an 8-0 advantage. Livingston added an RBI single in the fourth before Flasch smacked her third round tripper of the day for the final 12-0 score. Taylor surrendered just five hits and was the winning pitcher.
The Saints have won five straight games and are now 28-6 on the season. Blackburn falls to 2-14 on the year. Maryville is back in action Wednesday as it visits Lindenwood University.
