St. Louis – The Maryville women's soccer team could not over-come a double dose of the weather and the offense of McKendree University as the Bearcats defeated the Saints 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

Despite a steady rain that started mid-way through the first half, Maryville controlled the tempo in the first half putting four shot towards the goal. McKendree, on the other hand could only muster three shots in the half as the teams played to a scoreless tie after 45 minutes.

The Bearcats (4-1-0, 2-1-0 GLVC) found the goal just minutes after the teams resumed play after a 40-minute weather delay as Amanda William converted on a pass from Liz Kaiser to take a 1-0 lead.

Danielle Schmitz lead the way for the Saints with four shots while
Allison Verville added three shots in the losing cause.

Maryville (1-4-0, 0-3-0 GLVC) returns to the pitch on Sunday, September 18 against Illinois-Springfield. The start time for the affair will be 12 noon.Â
