St. Louis – The University of Indianapolis scored a pair of goals in the first half en route to a 3-0 victory over the Maryville University women's soccer team Wednesday afternoon at Maryville Field. Despite the loss, the Saints have earned a berth into the Great Lakes Valley Conference Soccer Championships.
What Happened – The Greyhounds opened the scoring in the 14
th minute to take a 1-0 advantage and extended the lead to 2-0 in the 38
th minute. UIndy would get an insurance goal in the 87
th minute to take home a 3-0 victory. The Saints had many opportunities in the game, out shooting the Greyhounds 10-8, but could not find the net.
Inside the Numbers – Allison Verville paced the Saints offense with four shots while
Casey Gonzales finished the afternoon with a pair of shots.
How They Stand – Maryville finishes the regular season with a mark of 8-5-3 overall and 7-4-3 in league play. The Greyhounds improve to 8-6-2 overall and 7-5-2 in the GLVC.
Up Next – Maryville moves on to the GLVC post-season tournament Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, as the Saints will take on an opponent that will be determined later this evening.
