What Happened
The Saints were down 27-22 midway in the second quarter before making a run to grab the lead. Sherwood drilled a 3-pointer, and after two Fort Wayne free throws,
Amanda Ponce answered with a jumper. Barton sank a 3-pointer to give the Saints a 30-29 advantage. The Lady Mastodons retook a 32-31 lead but
Adrienne Horn made two free throws and Steward drilled a 3-pointer. Steward made two free throws as the Saints took a 38-32 lead into halftime.
The Saints stretched their advantage to as much as 41-34 on another Steward triple two minutes into the third. Maryville matched its biggest least at 46-39 on a Foster layup but Fort Wayne closed. Two Ringering free throws provided the Saints a 52-50 edge after three quarters.
Fort Wayne tied the score at 54-all but Sherwood splashed in a 3-pointer for a 57-54 lead at the 6:21 mark. The Lady Mastodons went back ahead 58-57 but Sherwood answered with a jumper for a 59-58 advantage that the Saints would not surrender. Barton connected on a 3-pointer and Ringering scored on a layup for a 64-58 lead with 2:12 to play. Sherwood had a layup for a 68-60 lead for the largest lead of the game for the Saints. Maryville hit its free throws in the final minute to seal the victory. The game was an exhibition for the Saints but was a regular-season game for Fort Wayne.
