St. Louis – The Maryville University men's soccer team opened the exhibition season by scoring a pair of goals mid-way through the first half and cruised to a 3-0 win over Missouri Baptist Saturday morning at Spartan Field.
What Happened – The Saints struck in the 26
th minute as
Alex Meyer drilled a cross from
Nico Andrade into the back of the goal for a 1-0 advantage. Andrade then added a second helper in the 38
th minute as
Vittorio Sasso scored from the left wing off the Andrade pass to give Maryville a 2-0 lead. The Saints sealed the victory in the 81
st minute on a goal from
Helgi Jonsson that extended the Maryville lead to 3-0.
Up Next – Maryville will open their home exhibition schedule on Wednesday, August 23 as the Saints will take on LIndenwood University. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m. at Maryville Field.
