Mary Barton scored 18 points and the Maryville women's basketball team held off a rally by Washburn to win the final game 62-58 of the Parrish Hotels Thanksgiving Classic in Topeka, Kan. Barton nailed five 3-pointers to guide the Saints to their second road victory of the season.

What Happened
UU Longs scored the first points of the game as the Saints built a 10-4 lead in the opening quarter. Washburn stayed close and took their only lead of the game at 19-17 at the 4:12 mark of the second quarter.
Taylor Kirby tied the game with two free throws, and Barton hit a layup at the 3:07 mark to give the Saints a lead they would not surrender the rest of the game. The Saints settled for a 25-22 lead at halftime.

In the third, Washburn got as close as 29-28 until Barton nailed a three for a 32-28 edge. Later in the quarter, Barton sank two more 3-pointers, and after a Washburn bucket,
Erin Lenahan drained a triple for a 43-35 lead with one minute left in the third quarter. Barton completed a three-point play as the Saints extended the margin to 46-35 with 9:02 remaining. The lead was down to eight but Lenahan scored on a layup for a 51-41 cushion. Washburn closed to within five points on two occasions. However, in the final minute,
Abby Monis sank two free throws, and
Jayda Jansen did the same with 29 seconds left to keep the Saints ahead by three possessions.
Stephanie Sherwood iced the game with two more free throws with 11 ticks left.
