Alyssa Callans earned a pair of victories Saturday as the Maryville softball team extended their winning streak to five games with a 7-2 win over Central Missouri in the opener of a four-game trip to Trusler Complex in Emporia, Kan. The Saints battled back in the second game of the day to defeat Pittsburg State, 5-4 in eight innings.
Game One:
Kelsey Martin started things off for Maryville in the first with a single and scored on a pass ball after advancing to third on an error. The Saints plated two more runs in the first to take an early 3-0 lead.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis added a run in the third inning with an RBI double, that scored
Emily Bruin from first to give Maryville a 4-0 cushion. The offense continued to do their job as Maryville scored three runs on five hits, including a single by
Bri Livingston that scored two runs. Callans tossed a five hitter over six innings to grab her second win of the year.

Game Two:
The Gorillas raced out to a 4-0 lead after four innings of play, but the Saints got the offense moving in the fifth. With two outs in the inning, the Saints drilled three straight doubles to cut the Pittsburg State lead to 4-2. Maryville drew even in the sixth inning as Callans helped her own cause with a single to open the inning and moved to third on a
Courtney Ferguson single to put runners at the corners. Pasakarnis tied the game by hitting into an error and making the score 4-4. Maryville took home the victory in the eighth inning as Pasakarnis was placed at second base and scored on a Hausl single to give the Saints their fifth straight win. Callans entered the game in the eighth inning and struck out all three batters that she faced to earn her second win of the day.
