What Happened
The Tritons were hot from the start and grabbed a double-digit lead. The Saints cut into the gap but were still down 38-28 heading into halftime and 53-43 after three quarters. The Saints made their run in the final stanza.
Mary Barton drilled a 3-pointer, and
Kayla Steward scored to bring the Saints to 59-55. UMSL sank three free throws before
Ali Ringering connected on a jumper with 1:19 to play. The Tritons went back up by eight until Barton scored to pull the Saints back to 65-59. UMSL added two free throws.
Amanda Ponce hit a deep corner three to trim the deficit to 67-64 with 16 seconds remaining. However, the Tritons converted three of four free throws in the waning seconds to hold on for the win.
