St. Louis – The Maryville softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Great Lakes Valley Conference foe, University of Wisconsin Parkside Sunday afternoon at Weber Field. The Saints fell in the opening game of the twin-bill, 3-2, then watched the Rangers comeback to to take the night cap, 5-4.
Game One:
The Rangers cracked the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Maryville offense got going in the home half of the fourth as
Alyssa Callans singled to center scored as
Jaclyn Pasakarnis drilled her team-high sixth homer of the year over the left field fence to tie the contest at 2-2. Wisconsin-Parkside broke the tie in the sixth with two-out RBI single to take a 3-2 advantage.

Game Two:
The Saints got things going early in the nightcap as
Hope Miller reached base on an error and moved up to second on an illegal pitch. After a walk to Pasakarnis put runners at first and second, Callans singled to right field to score Miller as it gave Maryville a 1-0 lead.
Bri Livingston opened the second inning with a single to center and advanced to third on a fielding error and scored on an
Emily Frankenreiter sacrifice fly to right to give the Saints a 2-0 advantage. The Rangers tied the game with two runs in top of third and Maryville regained the lead in the fourth inning as Livingston opened the frame with a single and moved up to second on a stolen base. After
Hannah Tolley singled to put runners on the corners,
Kelsey Martin singled to score Livingston and Miller then hit a sacrifice bunt to score Tolley as it gave Maryville a 4-2 lead. The lead would be short lived as UWP scored three runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 advantage and held on for the sweep.
