The Maryville men's tennis team went the distance to edge regionally-ranked Rockhurst in a 5-4 triumph Friday afternoon in a match at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park. The Hawks are ninth in the latest regional poll.

The Saints won the first point at No. 1 doubles as
Juan Segura and
Louis Glaves posted an 8-2 decision. The Hawks won the No. 2 match but
Bodin Aleksic and
Jack Beuttell-Triggs won a close 9-7 tilt at No. 3 doubles to hand the Saints a 2-1 lead prior to singles action.

At the top singles, Segura took consecutive tiebreaks to win his match, while. Beuttell-Triggs won his second point in a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles. Aleksic took his match with a 6-2, 7-5 decision for the final margin.

The win ups the Maryville mark to 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Hawks slip to 14-5 overall, 3-2 in the league. Maryville plays its final home match of the season Saturday against William Jewell at 2 p.m. at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
