St. Louis – The Maryville softball team needed to work extra innings in both games to earn a sweep of the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at Weber Field. The Saints won the opener, 2-1 in eight innings and then scored a run off a wild pitch in the ninth inning to earn a 3-2 win in the nightcap.
Game One:
After three innings of scoreless softball, the Saints cracked the scoreboard in the home half of the fourth inning.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis laced a two-out double to left center and scored on a
Samantha Hausl triple down the right field line to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Tritons plated a run in the top of the seventh to draw even with Maryville at 1-1 on a pair of hits. UMSL had a chance in the top of the eighth as they put runners at second and third, but
Sheridon Sprague forced a pair of ground-outs to end the uprising.
Kelsey Martin opened the bottom of the inning with a double and moved to third on a ground-out. Pasakarnis gave Maryville the walk-off victory with a sacrifice fly to center field to score Martin.

Game Two:
Maryville started quickly as Martin drew a walk to open the bottom of the first. She stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt.
Bri Livingston scored Martin on a bunt single to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. The Tritons took the lead in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs on three hits to take a 2-1 advantage. The score remained that way until
Courtney Ferguson hit a two-out inside-the-park homer down the right field line in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2. The Tritons loaded the bases in the top of the ninth and could not push across a run as
Alyssa Callans forced a fielder's choice to get out of the inning. Callans again ignited the Saints in extra innings as she opened the home half of the ninth with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. She came across to score on a wild pitch to give Maryville the sweep.
