Saints Softball Earns Split with Bellarmine

Louisville, Ky. – Jaclyn Pasakarnis drove in six runs on the afternoon to aid the Maryville softball team to a split with Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Bellarmine University Saturday afternoon. The Saints fell in the opener, 2-1 and broke out to an early lead en route to a 6-1 victory in the nightcap at Knights Field.
 
Game One:
After the two teams played in a pitcher's duel over the first three innings, the Saints cracked the scoreboard first as Pasakarnis lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Hannah Tolley as it gave Maryviille a 1-0 lead in the fourth frame. The Knights took the lead in the fifth inning with a two-run homer to take a 2-1 advantage as that is all Bellarmine needed as the limited the Saints to only two hits over the last three frames to earn the victory.

Game Two:
The Saints opened the scoring in the top of the third as Pasakarnis ripped an RBI single to centerfield to score Tolley as it gave Maryville a 1-0 lead. Callans added to the Saints lead with an RBI triple to score Kelsey Martin to make the score 2-0 in the fourth frame. The Saints were not done in the stanza and Pasakarnis launched a two-run blast to extend the advantage to 4-0. Pasakarnis added two more runs in the fifth inning with a single to left field to give Maryville a 6-0 lead. The Knights pushed across a run in the home half of the seventh, but that is as close as they would get.
