Kansas City, Mo. – The Maryville University softball team dropped a pair of games to Rockhurst University Monday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo. The Saints fell in the first game of the day, 2-1 and could not overcome a five-run first inning in the nightcap as the Hawks went on to earn the sweep, 8-0 in five innings.
Game One:
Samantha Hausl started things off for the Saints in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to score
Kelsey Martin to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Hawks took advantage of a pair of singles and a fielding error in the fourth frame to tie the game at 1-1. The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh as Rockhurst scored on a walk-off double to take the first game of the day.

Game Two:
The Hawks exploded for five runs in the home half of the first to grab an early 5-0 advantage. Rockhurst added a run in the fourth frame to stretch their lead to 6-0. The Saints had an opportunity to cut into the lead in the fifth inning as
Jaclyn Pasakarnis and Martin each singled with one out, but the Hawks forced a pair of groundouts to end the inning. Rockhurst tallied a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead and earn the doubleheader sweep.
