In the home and Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, the Maryville volleyball team looked to make it two straight wins over Southern Indiana. However, the Screaming Eagles downed the Saints in three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-17.

What Happened
The Saints were down just 13-11 before USI tallied eight straight to stretch out its lead.
Faith Ahlhardt had a kill to end the run but the Saints could not get any closer. USI jumped out to a comfortable lead to open set two. Maryville tallied three straight points on a kill by
Allison Lakin, a USI error and a kill by
Mikaela Kues. The Saints were unable to get the deficit under seven points. Maryville tallied the opening two points of the third set and were still leading 4-3 after a block by
Cassidy Arndt and
Taylor Schellert. USI edged ahead before a Lakin kill cut the lead to 12-9. The visitors scored four of the next five points and closed out the match.
