Newman-Maryville results in PDF
The No. 15 Maryville wrestling team hosted No 23 Newman in a top-25 dual matchup but the Jets rallied late to down the Saints 24-18 in a thriller that wasn't decided until the final match in sudden victory.

Tyler Kreith got the Saints started with a 6-1 win at 125 but Newman pulled ahead with decisions at 133 and 141.
Gavin DeWitt won via a forfeit at 149 to put Maryville back up 9-6. Newman's Tyler Mies, who ranks second in the nation at 157, posted a fall. The Saints bounced back when
Tyler Harrington, who is fourth at 165, notched a late takedown to ground out a 7-6 decision to forge at 12-12 tie in the team scores.

The Jets narrowly won at 174 before
Bailey Kelly posted a last-second pin at the 6:59 mark to push the Saints back up 18-15. Newman took 197 via a forfeit as the visitors went back ahead 21-18 to set the stage for a dramatic heavyweight battle. Regulation was tied at 1-1 after two escapes. In the overtime sessions,
Logan Radik and Thor Balavage again had an escape each to push the match to sudden victory. However, the Jets notched a late takedown for the 4-2 win and a 24-18 team decision.

The Saints are next in action as they travel to Indianapolis for the GLVC Tournament Feb. 2-3. Maryville will face six league foes over the two days.
