In an exhibition contest at Division I Western Illinois, the Maryville women's basketball team battled before WIU pulled away for a 78-61 win over the Saints in Macomb, Ill. Abby Monis scored 18 points, while Jayda Jansen chipped in 17 points.
 
What Happened
The Saints led most of the first quarter and used a 9-2 run to close the opening 10 minutes to take a 17-10 lead. Western Illinois heated up from the field and kept the Saints offense in check as WIU took a 33-29 lead at halftime. Maryville led for nearly 10 minutes in the first half. WIU took a nine-point edge into the fourth. The Saints were still only down eight points early in the fourth quarter before the Leathernecks edged away late.
