Saints Women's Soccer Upset No. 13 Rockhurst 2-1

Kansas City, Mo. – Amanda Kaltwasser broke a scoreless tie midway through the second half while Alex Johnson added what turned out to be the game-winner with 15 minutes remaining to push the Maryville women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over No. 13 Rockhurst. The game was played at Bourke Field in Kansas City, Mo.
 
What Happened – The teams played to a scoreless tie after the first 45 minutes. The Hawks held a 6-3 advantage in shots, while both squads each had a shot on frame. Kaltwasser put the Saints ahead in the 65th minute with a shot off a rebound from four yards out to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage. Johnson added an insurance goal in the 85th minute as she drilled a pass from Madison Canoy into the upper right corner of the net from the top of the box to stake Maryville to a 2-0 lead. Rockhurst cut the lead to 2-1 late in the match, but the Saints held on to grab the road victory.
 
Inside the Numbers – The Hawks outshot Maryville 11-7, but the Saints held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. Johnson finished the night with four shots while three of those were on frame.
