St. Louis – Despite 11 kills from
Cassidy Arndt, the Maryville volleyball team fell to No. 6 Lewis 3-0 Friday evening at the Simon Center. The Flyers won the sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-18.
What Happened – The Flyers raced out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set, but the Saints chipped away and got to within three points at 11-8. Lewis then went on a 9-1 run to pull away and take set number one. The second set of the night saw the Saints grab a two-point lead as
Kayla Buxton had a service ace to make the score 9-7. The Flyers regained control of the set at 17-13, but Maryville took advantage of a pair of attack errors and a service ace by Arndt to tie the set at 17-17. Lewis outscored the Saints 8-4 to take the second set 25-21. The third set began with teams going back and forth until Lewis grabbed control midway through the set by a score of 18-13. Maryville was able to get within three points on a
Elizabeth Eardly kill, but the Flyers scored the next five points to pull away and win the match.
