Box Score Jeffersonville, Ind. – Bellarmine University scored with less than a minute left in the second half to defeat the Maryville men's soccer team 2-1 Friday evening in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Soccer Championships. The game was played at the Woehele Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Ind.
What Happened – The Knights opened the scoring in the eighth minute with shot off a cross that found the right side of the goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights limited Maryville to three shots in the first half. The score remained tied until the 89
th minute as
Cedric Sengl scored off a deflection from eight yards out to even the match at 1-1. The tie was short lived as Bellarmine scored on a header with 55 seconds remaining to go ahead 2-1.
Inside the Numbers – The Knights held an 11-8 advantage in shots while also holding a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. Sengl paced the Saints attack with two shots.
Liam Walraven was credited with a pair of saves in the match.
