UMSL Recap
On Senior Day,
Allison Lakin pounded down 12 kills as the Maryville volleyball team battled city-rival University of Missouri-St. Louis but the Tritons prevailed. No. 23 UMSL kept the Saints at bay 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.
Cassidy Arndt added nine kills, while
Kayla Buxton recorded 19 assists.

What Happened
UMSL led 7-3 before the Saints roared back with a 6-0 burst. Arndt had three straight kills followed by a
Mikaela Kues ace. After a block by
Taylor Schellert and
Elizabeth Eardly, Kues served up another ace for a 9-7 lead. The teams traded the lead five more times before consecutive kills by Lakin gave Maryville a 22-19 edge. However, the Tritons tallied the final six points to take the set.

Maryville scored three straight points to forge an 8-8 tie. The teams traded the next 10 points before UMSL took a 16-13 lead. The Saints got as close as 19-17 on a block by Eardly and Schellert but UMSL used a 4-0 run to take a 2-0 lead. Maryville hit .342 in the set but could not grab the lead.

In the final set, the Tritons scored five consecutive points to build a 14-6 advantage. Lakin notched a kill to stop the UMSL momentum. The visitors scored the next five and eased to their seventh straight victory.
A.J. Hallemann notched 14 digs, while Kues had a good overall outing with seven kills, 10 assists and nine digs. The Saints outblocked the Tritons 7.5-6.0 in the match.
