At the UMSL Thanksgiving Classic, the Maryville women's team used dominating performances over the second and third quarter to defeat Lincoln 84-67. Early in the third quarter, senior

Â
What Happened
The Saints took a 26-24 lead after the first quarter but started the second ten minutes with a rush. Maryville tallied the first 11 points and held Lincoln without a point for over five minutes.
Abby Monis began the burst with a runner in the lane. Barton stuck a jumper and followed with a wing 3-pointer.
Donnetta Colbert sank two free throws, and
UU Longs had a steal and fed
Jayda Jansen for a layup and a 37-24 advantage. Lincoln scored its only points of the quarter on a three-point play. Maryville tallied the final six points of the half on a Monis bucket, a layup for
CiCi Rindy and two free throws by Barton for a 43-27 lead.
Â
The Saints were up 46-29 in the third quarter but put the game away with a 14-0 run. Monis' layup started the run, and Longs and Stidham had back-to-back layups. Barton drilled a triple, and two at the line from
Olivia Kastens followed. Stidham's corner 3-pointer was good as the Saints took their largest lead of the game at 60-29 with 3:14 left in the third. The Maryville defense kept the Blue Tigers scoreless for nearly six minutes. Barton finished with 22 points, while Stidham had 13, while Rindy added 12 points. Monis hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds, while Kastens dished out six assists. Maryville's defense held Lincoln to a 31.7 percent shooting percentage.
