Wheeling Jesuit boxscore in PDF
Lucas Shafer had a record setting day as the Maryville men's lacrosse smashed the record for goals in a 24-14 victory at Wheeling Jesuit. Shafer tied the program record with seven goals and set the mark with nine assists to finish with 16 points.
Jacob Allen cranked up the offense with six goals and two assists, while
Jayden Fraser finished with five scores and two helpers.

Allen scored the game's first goal but WJU tied the contest. The Saints were up 3-1 after Allen's second and Shafer's first of the day. The Cardinals pulled one score back but Fraser and
Jordan Shumate found the net for a 5-2 lead. Maryville took a 6-5 edge after the first. The Saints scored three straight times to open a 9-5 lead. Wheeling Jesuit closed 9-7 but the Saints again answered with a 4-0 run. Shafer tallied, Ty Wench had a man-up score, and Allen had two straight for a 13-7 cushion. The Saints eventually led at the break 14-8 after a man-up goal by Allen.

Midway through the third frame, the Saints took control with three unanswered goals. Shafer sandwiched two goals around one by Fraser for an 18-10 lead. Wenck opened the final quarter with a score and a 19-10 advantage. WJU cut the gap to 19-12 but the Saints scored three times in less than a minute for a 22-12 lead with 8:34 left.

Owen Wostoupal won 17 faceoffs and had eight grounds balls, while
Jake Socia dominated with six caused turnovers.
