The Bearcats answered right back in their half of the inning as they plated seven runs to take a 7-5 advantage. The offensive fireworks continued in the second as the Saints took advantage of two walks and a single to load the bases for Schares, who laced a three-run double to put Maryville back on top 8-7.
Daniel Covert then hit an RBI single to extend the Maryville lead to 9-7. After the Saints added a run in the third frame, Maryville took advantage of two walks and a pair of hit batters to score five times in the fourth to extend the lead to 15-9. The offense continued to roll as the Saints scored two runs in the fifth and sixth innings and added five runs in the seventh to earn their first win of the year.
