Bri Livingston drilled a pair of extra base hits while
Shaina Kmetz drove in three runs to pace the Maryville softball team to a 9-4 victory over Henderson State Sunday morning in the last game of the Alvy Early Classic at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Game One vs Henderson State:
The Saints offense got things going in the opening frame as
Taylor Shingler and
Jaclyn Pasakarnis each singled and Livingston was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kmetz and
Alyssa Callans then drilled RBI singles to give Maryville a 2-0 lead and
Olivia Jarvis helped her cause by hitting a fielder's choice to drive in the Saints third run of the inning that gave Maryville a 3-0 lead. Livingston extended the Saints lead in the second with an RBI double to left center to push the advantage to 4-0. Kmetz continued to swing a hot bat as she drilled a two-run single to left center to add to the Saints lead. Maryville added two more runs on a pass ball and an error to make the score 8-0. The Reddies cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer to cut the Saints advantage to 8-2. Livingston added to the Maryville lead in the top of the fifth with her third home run of the season to push the lead to 9-2. Henderson State scored twice in the seventh inning, but Jarvis slammed the door shut to earn her second win of the year.

Up Next: The Saints will travel to Evansville, Ind. to take part in the Midwest Crossover starting Friday, Feb. 22, at Deaconess Sports Park. Maryville will open play at 1 p.m. against Tiffin Friday afternoon and then take on Kentucky Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
