On day two of the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestling Championships, the Maryville Saints earned a split against two ranked foes. No. 15 Indianapolis edged Maryville 23-16 but the Saints rebounded to move past No. 24 Drury 35-6.
Versus the host Greyhounds, Tyler Kreith won the opening match at 125 with a 5-1 decision but UIndy took the next four. Tyler Harrington got the Saints back on track with a fall in 4:42 to win his 165 contest. Matt Pratt earned a 3-2 decision in the 174 classification before Bailey Kelly notched a 10-1 major at 197 to push the Saints ahead 16-13. However, the Greyhounds grabbed the last two matches for the narrow win.
In the final match against the Panthers, Maryville grabbed the first three matches to take early control. Kreith notched a 9-0 major, followed by Taylor Jokerst's 12-6 win in the 133 weight class. Tyler Stegall worked for a 3-2 decision at 141. Harrington recorded his second fall of the day in 46 seconds as the Saints also picked up two forfeit wins. Kelly rolled to a 16-0 tech fall. Logan Radik closed the tournament with a 3-0 win at 285.
The No. 13 Saints are back in action with a dual at Lindenwood, Wednesday, Feb. 6, in a 7 p.m. start at Hyland Arena.
