Saints Softball Use a Pair of Big Innings to Sweep Wisconsin - Parkside

St. Charles, Mo. – The Maryville University softball team got its offense going by scattering 23 hits, including five extra-base knocks, to sweep Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday afternoon at Lindenwood University. The Saints battled back from a two-run deficit to take the opener 10-8, while Olivia Jarvis twirled a five-hitter in the night cap to lead Maryville to a 7-2 victory. The wins snapped a three-game losing skid.

Game One:
After the Rangers scored a run in the top of the first, the Saints went to work offensively in their half of the inning by sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring six runs. Hannah Tolley and Shaina Kmetz highlighted the Maryville uprising with two-run singles in the frame to give the Saints a 6-1 lead. The Rangers regained the lead in the third as they pushed across six runs of their own to grab a 7-6 advantage. Parkside extended the lead in the fourth inning with a run to push the score to 8-6. The Saints battled back and took the lead again in the fifth as Alyssa Callans and Jaclyn Pasakarnis each drilled two-run singles to give Maryville a 10-8 lead. The Rangers had a chance to tie the game in the seventh, but Katie Grunert forced a ground out with a pair of runners on to earn her second win of the year.
