St. Louis –
Olivia Jarvis smashed her first home run of the season in the first game of the day to aid the Maryville softball team to a split with No. 24 Indianapolis Saturday afternoon at Weber Field. Jarvis also had five strikeouts in the opener as the Saints won the GLVC opener for both teams 3-2. The Greyhounds held Maryville to five hits as UIndy took the nightcap 4-3.
Game One:
The Saints got things going early as
Alyssa Callans lashed an RBI single to score
Hannah Tolley as it gave Maryville an early 1-0 lead after one inning of play. The Greyhounds tied the game in the second frame, but Jarvis gave Maryville the lead once again with a two-run blast in the home half of the inning to give Maryville a 3-1 advantage. UIndy scored a run in the fifth to cut the Saints lead to 3-2, but that is as close as they got as Jarvis held them to one over the next two innings to earn her seventh win of the year.

Game Two:
The Greyhounds jumped out in front 3-0 to start the game in the top of the first inning, but Maryville answered in their half of the frame. After a pair of two-out singles,
Taylor Shingler ripped a single to score a run while another scored on a fielding error to cut the UIndy lead to 3-2. The Greyhounds pushed across a run in the second inning to extend the lead to 4-2. Maryville once again closed the gap to a run as
DJ Aaron-Holman lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to plate a run and make the score 4-3. That is how the game ended as UIndy held the Saints hitless over the final four innings to earn the split.
