St. Louis – The Maryville University softball team needed a couple of late game rallies to earn a sweep of Lewis in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Sunday afternoon at Weber Field.The Saints needed 12 innings to defeat the Flyers in the opening game, 4-3.
Olivia Jarvis tossed a six-hitter with five strikeouts while Maryville scored five runs in the sixth inning to take the nightcap 5-2.
Game One:
The Saints got the offense going in the third as
Bri Livingston ripped a triple to
Hannah Tolley and give Maryville a 1-0 lead.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis ripped a two-run blast over the left center wall to extend the advantage to 3-0. Lewis scored a run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to force extra-innings. The score remained tied until the 12
thinning when
Hannah Tolley ripped a double to right field and scored on a pass ball to give the Saints the victory. The hit for Tolley was her fourth in the game.

Game Two:
The Flyers took advantage of three Maryville errors in the top of the second frame to grab a 1-0 lead. Lewis held on to the lead until the sixth inning as Maryville hit three straight singles to load the bases for
Alyssa Callans, who laced a two-run single to center field to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.
Shaina Kmetz added another run later in the inning with RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1.
Samantha Hausl gave the Saints their sixth hit of the inning with a two-run single to give Maryville a 5-1 advantage. The Flyer pushed across a run in the seventh, but Jarvis slammed the door on the uprising to earn her ninth win of the year.
