The Maryville women's basketball team earned the No. 5 seed for the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and plays No. 4 seed Truman State Friday, March 8, at 8:30 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Ill.

If the Saints are victorious, they would play the winner of the No. 1 Drury-No. 8 McKendree game in the semifinals Saturday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10. The winner of the tournament earns the GLVC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Mary Barton, a first-team All-GLVC selection, leads the Saints with 15.3 ppg and 120 assists. Third-team All-GLVC honoree
Kayla Steward is second on the squad at 11.5 ppg, while fellow All-GLVC third team selection
Stephanie Sherwood adds 10.7 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per contest. Truman State brings a record of 22-6 overall, 13-5 GLVC into the matchup. First-team All-Conference honoree Sloan Totta leads Truman at 11.2 ppg, with Rachel Edmundson and Brooke Bailey, both second-team All-GLVC selections, adding 11.1 ppg and 10.9 ppg, respectively.

Maryville won earlier this season at Truman State 85-78 in Kirksville, Mo., January 19. The Saints have won three straight contests against Truman. The teams have met twice previously in the GLVC Tournament. Truman State won the 2014 GLVC Championship 58-45 over the Saints. Maryville scored at the buzzer in the first round of the 2017 tournament to topple Truman 80-78.

The Saints finished the regular season with an 82-69 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis to post an 18-9 record overall, 12-6 in the GLVC. Maryville's 18 wins are the most since the 2013-14 team notched 20 victories, and the 12 GLVC triumphs are the most since the 2012-13 squad garnered 13 league wins.
