Lebanon, Ill. –
Bri Livingston drove in six runs on the day to propel the Maryville University softball team to a sweep of McKendree Wednesday afternoon at Bearcat Field in Lebanon, Ill. The Saints scattered 12 hits in the opener to defeat the Bearcats 11-3, while Livingston ripped a grand slam to lead Maryville to an 8-0 win in the nightcap.
Game One:
Livingston opened the scoring in the first with a sacrifice fly to center to score
Hannah Tolley and give Maryville a 1-0 lead. After the Bearcats even the game in the home half of the first, the Saints regained the lead in the second as
Emily Frankenreiter hit a two-run double and scored on a
Jaclyn Pasakarnis single to put Maryville out in front 4-1. The offense continued to roll in the third as
Carly Wilson laced an RBI single to left field to extend the advantage to 5-1. The Saints put the game out of reach in the fourth as
Emily Bruin hit an RBI single and
Samantha Hausl ripped a two-run blast to push the lead to 8-1. Maryville added another run in the inning as
Shaina Kmetz smacked an RBI double to make the score 9-1. Livingston added an insurance run in the fifth as she drove in a run with her second double of the game to push the Saints lead to 10-1. After the Saints scored another run in the inning to go ahead 11-1, McKendree scratched a pair of runs across in the bottom of the inning, but that was not enough to extend the game.
Olivia Jarvis retired the final two batters of the game to pick up her team-high 13
th win of the year. The victory for Jarvis adds to her school record for wins for a freshman.

Game Two:
The Saints cracked the scoreboard first in the third inning as Kmetz smashed her fourth home run of the year over the center field wall to stake Maryville to a 1-0 lead.
Alyssa Callans kept the inning going with a two-run shot to left center field to extend the Saints lead to 3-0. Maryville added insurance runs in the seventh frame as Callans helped out her own cause with an RBI single and Livingston drilled a grand slam home run to push the lead to 8-0. Callans earned her 10
th win of the year while tossing a four-hit shutout and striking out nine Bearcat batters en route to the victory.
