Normandy, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis used a pair of late inning comebacks to earn a sweep of the Maryville University softball team Friday afternoon at the UMSL Softball Field in Normandy, Mo. The Tritons scored three times in the seventh to win the opener 4-2 and then scored another three runs in the fifth frame of the nightcap to earn a 3-2 victory over the Saints.
Game One:
Jaclyn Pasakarnis put Maryville on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a double into the gap in right center field to score
Hannah Tolley and give the Saints an early 1-0 lead. Pasakarnis moved to third on a flyout and scored on a wild pitch to put Maryville ahead 2-0. The Tritons cut the lead in half with a run in the sixth to make the score 2-1 and won the game in the seventh with a walk-off three-run homer to take the opener 4-2.

The Saints opened the scoring in the fourth inning as
Alyssa Callans hit an RBI single to score
Bri Livingston to give Maryville a 1-0 lead.
Samantha Hausl added to the lead in the fourth as she drove in Callans with a single to left field to extend the advantage to 2-0. The Tritons hit a pair of home runs in the fifth inning to claim a 3-2 lead over the Saints. Maryville had opportunities to score in the last two innings, but the Tritons forced a groundout in the sixth and a double play in the seventh to hold on for the victory.
