Callans Throws a Three-Hitter as the Saints Sweep William Jewell

St. Louis – Alyssa Callans tossed a three-hit shutout in the nightcap to propel the Maryville University softball to a sweep of William Jewell Friday afternoon at Weber Field. The Saints had three extra base hits in the opener to defeat the Cardinals 4-1 while Hannah Tolley had the big hit in the final game of the day to give the Saints a 2-0 victory.

Game One:
The Saints opened the scoring in the first as Tolley started the inning with an infield single and scored on a Bri Livingston ground rule double to left field to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the second with a run, but the Saints regained the lead in the third. After Emily Frankenreiter walked and Tolley hit a single, Jaclyn Pasakarnis laced a two-run double off the wall in right center to push Maryville ahead 3-1. Samantha Hausl added an insurance run in the sixth with her fifth home run of the year to extend the Saints advantage to 4-1. That is all that the Saints needed as Olivia Jarvis surrendered two hits over the last four innings to earn her 14thwin of the year.
