St. Louis –
Alyssa Callans tossed a three-hit shutout in the nightcap to propel the Maryville University softball to a sweep of William Jewell Friday afternoon at Weber Field. The Saints had three extra base hits in the opener to defeat the Cardinals 4-1 while
Hannah Tolley had the big hit in the final game of the day to give the Saints a 2-0 victory.
Game One:
The Saints opened the scoring in the first as Tolley started the inning with an infield single and scored on a
Bri Livingston ground rule double to left field to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the second with a run, but the Saints regained the lead in the third. After
Emily Frankenreiter walked and Tolley hit a single,
Jaclyn Pasakarnis laced a two-run double off the wall in right center to push Maryville ahead 3-1.
Samantha Hausl added an insurance run in the sixth with her fifth home run of the year to extend the Saints advantage to 4-1. That is all that the Saints needed as
Olivia Jarvis surrendered two hits over the last four innings to earn her 14
thwin of the year.

After four innings of scoreless softball, Maryville put the only runs in the game on the scoreboard in the fifth frame as Tolley ripped a two-run double down the left field line to score
Haylie Nelson and Frankenreiter to give the Saints a 2-0 advantage. Callans was credited with seven strikeouts on the afternoon en route to her 11
thwin of the season. The win also gives Maryville their second most wins in a season in the Division II era.
