St. Louis – The Maryville University softball team pounded out 16 hits on the day to earn a sweep of Rockhurst Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Weber Field.
Hannah Tolley gave the Saints a 3-2 victory in the opener with a walk-off single while
Alyssa Callans gave the Saints a boost both in the circle and at the plate as Maryville won the nightcap 5-2.
Game One:
After the Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after one inning of play, the Saints tied the contest in the second as
Samantha Hausl scored on a throwing error to make the score 1-1. Maryville gained the lead in the third as
Hannah Tolley singled and then stole second base. After moving to third on a groundout, Tolley crossed the plate on another groundout to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage. The Hawks scored a run in the sixth frame on two hits to tie the contest at 2-2. Tolley gave the Saints the win with a walk-off single in the seventh to score
Haylie Nelson from second base to claim the victory.

Game Two:
DJ Aaron-Holman gave Maryville the early lead with an RBI single that scored Hausl from second base to put the Saints ahead 1-0 after two innings of play. Callans helped her own cause in the fourth inning as she smashed her seventh home run of the season over the left field wall to give the Saints a 2-0 advantage. Maryville added two more runs in the inning on a fielding error to extend the lead to 4-0. The Saints offense continued to produce in the fifth as Hausl laced an RBI single to score Pasakarnis and extend the advantage to 5-0. The Hawks battled back with runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but Callans slammed the door shut in retiring the final two Rockhurst batters to earn her 12
thwin of the season.
