Springfield, Mo. – The Maryville University softball team scattered 18 hits on the day en route to a sweep of Drury University in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Saturday afternoon at Thompson Field in Springfield, Mo. The Saints scored three times in the fifth inning of the opener to pull away from the Panthers and claim a 6-2 win. Maryville pounded out 11 hits in the nightcap to earn a 6-4 victory and extend its winning streak to six games.
Game One:
The Saints opened the scoring in the first when
Hannah Tolley drew a walk and scored as
Jaclyn Pasakarnis doubled to left field to put Maryville ahead 1-0.
Taylor Shingler added to the Saints lead as she opened the second inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. She scored after a pair of wild pitches to push the Maryville lead to 2-0. The Panthers cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the home half of the second. The Saints added to the advantage in the fifth as Tolley opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a throwing error. She scored on a another Pasakarnis double to make the score 3-1. Two more runs came home for Maryville in the inning on wild pitches to extend the lead to 5-1. The Panthers scored a run in the sixth, but the Saints got the run back as
Samantha Hausl laced an RBI single to give Maryville a 6-2 advantage.

The Saints got things going again in the top of the first as Tolley singled and stole second. She scored on a Pasakarnis sacrifice fly to put Maryville on top 1-0.
Bri Livingston added to the lead in the second with an RBI single while the Saints added two more runs on a throwing error to extend the margin to 4-0. The Panthers battled back with a pair of runs in the second and a run in the third to make the score 4-3. Pasakarnis got a run back for the Saints in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Livingston as it put Maryville on top 5-3. Drury once again cut the lead in half in the fourth with a run to put the score at 5-4. The Saints tacked on an insurance run in the sixth as
Alyssa Callans ripped an RBI triple to the gap in right center to push Maryville ahead 6-4.
