The Maryville women's tennis team extended its winning streak to a season-high five matches with a 6-1 victory at William Jewell. The Saints closed the regular season at 11-4 overall, 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
At No. 1 doubles, Nicole Pafundi and Clara Bascunana took their match 6-3, and Sandra Hinterberger and Georgina Cupper won all six games at No. 2. Thamara Pinto and Ashley Dowden blanked their No. 3 foes 6-0 to complete the doubles sweep.
Pafundi closed out an unbeaten regular season in singles action via a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Cupper claimed her No. 2 match with scores of 6-2, 6-0. Bascunana took her match 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2, while Pinto won at the fourth singles match 6-1, 6-1. Dowden swept all 12 games at No. 5.
The Saints are next in action at the GLVC Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the West Division and take on East Division No. 3 seed Illinois Springfield Friday, April 19, at 8 a.m. CT/9 a.m. ET.
