In the quarterfinals of the 2019 GLVC Championships, the Maryville women's tennis team was looking to reverse the result of its match earlier this season against Illinois Springfield. The Prairie Stars won the first meeting 4-3 and narrowly eliminated the Saints by the same scoreline Friday in Indianapolis.

After UIS took the No. 1 doubles match, Helena Colvee and Georgina Cupper pulled the Saints even with a 6-4 win at No. 2. The Prairie Stars took the doubles point by winning the No. 3 match 7-6 in a 7-3 tiebreak.

Nicole Pafundi recorded the first point of the match for the Saints as she notched a 6-1, 6-3 win at the top singles slot. Sandra Hinterberger picked up a victory at No. 5 singles via a 6-4, 6-2 decision. Ashley Dowden triumphed at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-4 as the match would be decided by the final singles contest at No. 3. However, UIS took the final set of the final match with a 7-3 win in a tiebreaker.

The Saints had their five-match winning streak ended and are now 11-5 on the season. The Prairie Stars improve to 14-4 overall.
