SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - The Maryville women's tennis team picked up momentum for the upcoming 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships with a 7-0 sweep at Illinois Springfield.
 
Isabella Alvarez and Nazli Saka won at No. 1 by a 6-2 score, while Luana Luersen and Grace Brown were victorious by the same scoreline at No. 2.
 
Alvarez and Saka took the top two singles slots by scorelines of 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-4, respectively. MIra Vasileva cruised at No. 3 6-1, 6-0, and Maria Mateos posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. Luersen won her match at No 5 by a 7-6, 7-1 margin. Brown posted a straight-set win at No. 6 by a final of 6-4, 7-5.
 
The 2026 GLVC Championship runs May 1-3 at Center Grove High School in Indianapolis.
