Kirksville, Mo. –
Olivia Jarvis tossed a four-hit shutout in the opening game of the day to aid the Maryville Softball team to a split with Truman State Friday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo. The Saints ripped nine hits as they took the first game of the day 6-0 while the Bulldogs held Maryville to four hits in the nightcap in a 3-1 victory.
Game One:
The Saints opened the scoring in the second as
Alyssa Callans was hit by a pitch and moved to third on an
Emily Bruin single down the left field line. Callans scored on a wild pitch to give Maryville an early 1-0 advantage. Emily Frankenrieter added to the Saints lead in the top of the fifth with her first home run of the year to left field to give Maryville a 2-0 lead. The offense continued to roll for the Saints in the inning as
Hannah Tolley singled and scored on a
Bri Livingston double to push the advantage to 3-0. Livingston came around to score as Bruin grounded into a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 4-0. Maryville added insurance in the sixth as Tolley lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to push a run across and Livingston hit an RBI single to give the Saints a 6-0 lead.

Game Two:
The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead by scoring runs in the first three innings of the nightcap to take a 3-0 lead.
Jaclyn Pasakarnis got the Saints on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a home run over the left field wall to cut the lead to 3-1. That is as close as the Saints could get as the Bulldogs retired the final five Maryville batters to gain the split.
