Alyssa Callans and
Emily Frankenreiter each hit a pair of home runs to power the Maryville University softball team to a sweep of Quincy Saturday afternoon at the Mart Heinen Complex in Quincy, Ill. The Saints scored four times in the seventh inning of the opener to defeat the Hawks 6-3 and exploded for five runs in the third frame en route to a 10-3 victory over Quincy in the nightcap.
Game One:
Alyssa Callans opened the scoring for the Saints in the top of the first inning as she ripped her fourth home run of the season to give Maryville an early 1-0 lead. The Saints added a run in the third frame as
Hannah Tolley was hit by a pitch and stole second base. She scored on an error to push the Maryville advantage to 2-0. The Hawks battled back and tied the game in the fourth with a pair of runs to make the score 2-2. The Saints broke the tie in the seventh as they loaded the bases to start the inning and Haley Nelson scored on a wild pitch to give Maryville a 3-2 lead. The Saints added to the lead as
Emily Bruin ripped a two-run single and
Samantha Hausl laced an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-2. Quincy scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, but that is all they could get as
Olivia Jarvis forced a pair of ground outs to earn her 12
thwin of the year.

Game Two:
The Saints got things going in the second inning as Frankenreiter launched her second homer of the year over the right field wall to stake Maryville to a 1-0 lead. The Hawks grabbed the lead with a pair of runs in their half of the second to take a 2-1 lead, but the Saints answered in the third. Callans started the inning with a double and scored as
Bri Livingston hit a another double to tie the game at 2-2. The offense continued to roll in the third as
DJ Aaron-Holman hit an RBI single and Frankenreiter hit a three-run blast to extend the lead to 6-2. The Hawks scored a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 6-3, but Maryville got the run back as Bruin hit an RBI single to push the score to 7-3. Maryville tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to extend the advantage to 9-3 while Callans added an insurance run in the sixth with her second home run of the day to make the score 10-3.
