Mary Barton scored 24 points while
Abby Monis posted her seventh double-double of the season to pace the Maryville women's basketball team to a 65-39 victory over William Jewell Thursday evening at Moloney Arena. The 39 points scored by the Cardinals was the lowest point total allowed by the Saints this season. Maryville held William Jewell to 26.4 percent shooting (14-of-53) on the night and forced 22 turnovers.

What Happened
Leading 13-11 after the first, the Saints used a big second quarter to break the game open. Barton and
Hunter Stidham each hit three's to extend the lead to 19-11. William Jewell was able to cut the lead to three with over four minutes remaining, but Barton scored seven of Maryville's final 11 points to give the Saints a 32-18 advantage at the half.

The Saints came out in the third period and pushed the lead to 40-20 with 6:43 left. Maryville had an 8-0 run as Barton and Stidham again hit back-to-back triples with Monis hitting a lay-in. Monis then scored four of her 14 points over the last five minutes of the quarter to give the Saints a commanding 49-28 lead. Barton then scored six of her team-high 24 markers in the fourth, which included a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity strip, to give Maryville the win.

Monis finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while
Jayda Jansen added 11 points. The Maryville defense held the Cardinals to exactly 25 percent shooting in three of the four quarters.
