The Maryville men's basketball team was looking to win its second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference contest but Lewis stopped the Saints 74-57 Thursday evening. Chicago native
Chris White led the Saints with 13 points, while
Ross Ryan and
Jalen Gant scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Parker Long led the Saints with eight rebounds, his highest total in a league game.

What Happened
Down 11-9, the Saints surged ahead with five consecutive points.
Zach Colletta pulled up in the lane for a jumper, and
Jalen Gant's three-point play was good for a 14-11 edge. The Saints stayed in front as
Ross Ryan drained a turnaround jumper from the left baseline for a 20-18 lead at the 11:03 mark. Lewis tallied six straight points before
Chris White found the range to bring the Saints to 24-22.
Jalen Gant powered up for a layup to trim the Lewis lead to 27-24 but the Flyers extended their lead to 38-31 at the break.

Ross Ryan opened the second half with a jumper as Maryville's deficit stood at 38-33. Lewis used a 7-0 run to build a double-digit lead. White powered for a layup, and
Parker Long drilled a jumper.
Dezmond McDaniel splashed in a 3-pointer as the Saints trimmed the gap to 50-42 at the 11:56 mark. Maryville kept the Flyers from pulling away, and Ryan converted back-to-back buckets to close to 61-54 with just over five minutes to play. However, the Saints were unable to trim the deficit to a one-possession game as the Flyers tacked on to their lead late.
