Harrogate, Tenn. – The Maryville softball team scattered 22 hits on the day as the Saints earned a split in a pair of games in Harrogate, Tenn. Maryville won the first game of the day over West Virginia State 8-3 while falling to No. 13 Lincoln Memorial 6-3 in the nightcap at Neely Field.
Game One vs. West Virginia State:
The Yellowjackets opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead. Maryville answered in its half of the frame as
Samantha Hausl ripped a two-run double and
Taylor Duff drove in two runs with a single to grab a 4-2 advantage. The Saints added three runs in the second as
Taylor Shingler drew a bases loaded walk and
Emily Frankenreiter hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 7-2. West Virginia State chipped into the lead with a run in the fourth to cut the Maryville advantage to 7-3.
Shaina Kmetz added an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI triple to push the Saints lead to 8-3.

Game Two vs. Lincoln Memorial:
The Railsplitters grabbed an early 6-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and four runs in the fourth frame. The Saints battled back in the top of the fifth as Shingler and Frankenreiter each hit RBI doubles to cut the LMU lead to 6-2. Maryville continued to battle in the sixth as
Jaclyn Pasakarnis doubled and scored on a throwing error to make the score 6-3. That is as close as the Saints would get as they were able to score in the final inning.
